IS DEEDS AN INDIAN ORGANISATION?

DEEDS is an Indian trust and almost all DEEDS supporters are Indian or of Indian origin. DEEDS funds are deployed in India to benefit the Deaf.

DOES DEEDS HAVE ANY FUNDING SUPPORT FROM THE GOVERNMENT?

As an NGO (non-government organisation), DEEDS does not receive any direct government funding.

HOW DOES DEEDS COVER ITS COSTS?

The organizational costs of DEEDS's comprise of Project costs, Administrative costs. We require funds for office equipment, furniture, in areas of media and advertising. DEEDS covers its costs by raising funds from Individual donations and corporate partners.

DOES DEEDS GET FUNDS FROM ANY OTHER SOURCE THAN INDIVIDUALS?

Apart from individual donors we also receive donation from international organizations and corporate partners who have shown their unconditional support towards the cause of Deaf.

HOW DOES DEEDS MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

DEEDS active support towards the cause of Deaf over a long period of time aims to bring this marginalized section of the society on par with the others by making them independent and self reliant through a three step process of imparting education to the Deaf, giving them vocational training and there after placing them in varied jobs keeping their area of expertise in mind. DEEDS objective is to make the Deaf productive member of their community/society.
DEEDS works to overcome the barriers that prevent the Deaf from being independent and essential contributors to the society.
DEEDS projects are designed keeping in mind the skills and capabilities of the Deaf. All the projects of DEEDS were designed after conducting various workshops and recognizing their needs.
To have a long-term impact on the lives of Deaf efforts are made by DEEDS to ensure that the Deaf are made economically independent and financial self reliant.

WHAT WILL DEEDS DO WITH MY DONATION?

DEEDS runs various projects to work with Deaf in Mumbai. These projects essentially focus on education and vocational training for the Deaf.
DEEDS conducts the Basic English Literacy Course (BELC) program in several Schools for the Deaf in Mumbai which is a specially designed course imparted to the Deaf through the medium of Indian Sign Language
In addition DEEDS provides free medical check-ups for the Deaf children by organizing medical camps.
Emphasis is also on job placements with free employment training and counseling by running a work ethics program for the Deaf with various organizations that have shown their support towards this noble cause.
The money that you contribute goes a long way towards these projects and thereby enrich the lives of thousands of Deaf people in India.

HOW DO I ENSURE THAT MY DONATION IS UTILIZED PROPERLY?

DEEDS is very transparent on its costs. To assure complete transparency to our donors you are free to check our periodic project reports, annual reports and beneficiary data. Accounts and programs are audited regularly and strict guidelines on finances are maintained on par with global standards at all times.

IS MY DONATION TAX-EXEMPT?

Yes, all contributions to DEEDS are eligible for 50% tax exemption under Section 80(G) of the Income Tax Act.

ARE DEEDS EMPLOYEES PAID FOR THEIR WORK?

The full-time employees are given regular salaries. We believe that this is important to attract the professional talent we need to manage our activities (and your resources) effectively.
