This is the first ever institute in India, Started in the year 2007, it offers a one year certificate course in cookery and commercial food production to the Deaf, free of cost. The course is specially designed by Deeds in conjunction with the Maharastra Vocation Board. The Students are taught 135 receipes , in 5 different kinds of cuisine, Hygiene, and Larder Science. After the one year course is completed the students take the theory and practical exam, the successful students are then placed in industry training in hotel kitchens from 3 months to 2 years with the Taj Group, ITC and J W Marriott Hotels. More often than not after the training is over the students are absorbed as employees with the same hotels. This specially designed course equips the students with professional competence in culinary skills which makes them eligible for jobs in the hospitality industry.

As most of the deaf hail from the low socio-economic strata of the society, they are paid an additional stipend to sustain their monthly expenses during the one year course. In addition, the gap between the vernacular language they have been schooled in and English which is the medium of instruction of the course is bridged with help of a sign language interpreter.

This course is conducted by Ms. Sharda Pargal, a renowned expert in food production. The course syllabus has been designed by DEEDS and approved by the Maharashtra State Board of Vocational Examination, Mumbai.

Since 2007, 53 students have successfully completed the course and been placed with The Taj Group of Hotels, ITC The Maratha etc in cities like Mumbai, Surat, Baroda and Ahmedabad.
